Discover the Po Delta Park

Just a few kilometers from the city are the Comacchio Valleys, 11,000 hectares of brackish area surrounded by banks and bumps rich in fauna and flora typical of lagoon environments. Particularly striking points are the Boscoforte peninsula and the Saline, where it is possible to admire a large colony of flamingos. The Po Delta Regional Park is the largest of the regional parks and occupies a very important portion of the territory of Emilia Romagna.

The territory of the park is divided into six different stations, each of which is characterized by specific naturalistic, landscape and historical-cultural emergencies. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the park through a variety of itineraries of unique beauty, which can be traveled by car, bicycle or on foot. By ferry, one can take beautiful boat trips. One can, for example, reach the Gorino lighthouse and perhaps have lunch in the quaint little restaurant. From here the nearest "attraction" is at nearby Goro, where there is one of the Adriatic's largest farms of shellfish and oysters.

During excursions in the Delta Park, we can admire an infinitely varied flora and fauna, according to the different environmental types in which the Park is rich. Sea lavender, baccherone, cane, the extremely rare white water lily and water gentian are just some of the many plant species that populate these wonderful places. Valleys with pilings eel fishing On the mainland we encounter the native and American trabuso, the water blackbird and the avocetta monachina, which nest among the tall vegetation; the reedbed is favored by the kingfisher, the song thrush and the reed warbler.
